Po tych dwóch informacjach zamieszczonych przez Kendricka na Twitterze, To Pimp a Butterfly zostało opublikowane w iTunes i Spotify 20 lat i jeden dzień po ukazaniu się Me Against The World 2pac'a. Okazuje się, że był to celowy zabieg jednak nie obyło się bez problemów - album został opublikowany w wersji ocenzurowanej co stworzyło sporo zamieszania. Wściekły Top Dawg winą za zaistniałą sytuację obarczył Interscope Records, które było odpowiedzialne m.in. za dystrybucję albumu.
Ostatecznie jednak wszystko zakończyło się dobrze - na iTunes i Spotify wszystko brzmi już tak jak powinno, a świat po raz kolejny oszalał na punkcie nowego albumu Kendricka Lamara. W rozwinięciu możecie przeczytać niektóre z komentarzy na temat płyty, które pojawiły się na Twitterze.
